Mr. Petion started his insurance career in 1993 with a Third Party Administrator, WorldNet Services Corporation, where he was involved in adjusting a variety of claims such as Travel Medical Insurance, HMO related claims, Managed Care, Baggage Insurance and Trip Interruption Insurance for major international insurance companies.

Thereafter and on December 1995, he began working for Progressive Casualty Insurance Company as a Claims Representative, where for 10 years; he was involved in investigating, negotiating and settling claims of coverage, collision, fire and theft, property damage, liability, bodily injuries and personal injuries from auto accidents. Two years later, he was promoted as the Team Leader for claims operations with increased responsibilities to oversee a team of generalists that handled the most complex coverage, liability and injuries claims. While working at Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, he completed graduate school in business and went on to law school to complete his legal studies.

In addition, Mr. Petion was an exemplary member of Arbitration Forums, Inc, a non- profit insurance industry based organization, from 1999 through 2005, where as a Judge panelist, he resolved disputes among insurance companies on claims related matters by making appropriate rulings and awards according to complaints and answers filed by the parties, including and based on evidence, contentions and guide rules, which are promulgated by insurance laws.

After completing law school, he joined the Office of General Counsel- Trial Division for United Automobile Insurance Company, where he concentrated his practice in the defense of (P.I.P.) Personal Injury Protection lawsuits against the carrier brought by Chiropractors, Physicians, other Medical Providers and Individuals. Mr. Petion’s litigation experiences includes, but not limited to:

  • Preparing for and conducting jury trials, binding (ADR) Alternative Dispute Resolution and arbitrations.
  • Preparing fact witnesses and experts for trial testimony.
  • Conducting numerous witnesses and expert depositions.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, trial briefs, briefs, motions in limine, motions for reconsideration and pleadings on various legal issues.

He brings to the firm 17 years of combined professional claims and legal experiences, with 10 years managing auto insurance claims with Progressive Casualty Insurance Company; 3 years as Insurance Defense Attorney for United Automobile Insurance Company at the Office of the General Counsel- Trial Division and 2 years as Plaintiff’s counsel. These defense and corporate skills while defending and managing resources for insurance companies, coupled with a long and successful academic background give him an invaluable edge in representing individuals against big insurance companies and private businesses in a broad range of legal matters.
